Day 03 - 1130 pst (1330 cst)
Jim and I started at 0830 again this morning and were having a great time doing some tree runs until… BAM, I busted my front foot (left) binding. I was making a turn around a tree and got into some deeper drift snow and my board bowed significantly and totally shattered my binding base plate. I had to walk out of the forest, and down to the nearest lift. At the lift, the resort staff took me down the rest of the way on a snowmobile.
It turns out that I also broke my binding footbed, so I had to get a new pair of bindings. Burton will replace my broken binding, but it would take at least four business days to get my binding back. I found a great deal on a new pair of Burton Cartel Bindings! They were on a 20% discount, plus with a coupon I saved another 25%. In the end, the bindings cost me $150. I guess I will get my old bindings fixed up and then put them on ebay to recoup some of the cost of the new bindings. These new bindings (Burton Cartel) are an upgrade from my old bindings (Burton Mission) and have a lot of neat features.
A couple photos of my busted binding disk…
