Back To School…

Well, not entirely true…  I’ve decided to begin learning Spanish via a weekly podcast!

I received an e-mail from iTunes about a week ago advertising several language courses that are provided via podcast. I reviewed a couple, finally deciding to use the ‘Coffee Break Spanish’ series.

During my research about the podcast, I discovered that the ‘CoffeeBreak Spanish’ podcast is the second most downloaded podcast in the entire iTunes inventory. After reviewing a couple of their ‘enhanced’ podcasts (visual slides accompanying the audio) I now understand why it has gained so many listeners… It’s as much fun as it is painless!

I am actually enjoying learning a foreign language… unlike my torturous experiences in high school and college French classes.

‘Vantage Point’

Todd’s Rating: ★★½☆

Jaime’s Rating: ★☆☆☆

Todd thought the movie was a good action thriller and was intrigued with the movie’s story line being told through multiple vantage points.  On a fundamental level, Todd felt the movie was a cross between the Fox T.V. show ‘24′ and the 1994 Bill Murray movie ‘Groundhog Day.’  The movie had plenty of action scenes, twists, and a long-winded ‘Bourne Identity’ style car chase.

Jaime was disappointed with movie’s story-line and practically slept through the second half of the movie.

‘Gone Baby Gone’

Jaime’s favorite character in ‘Gone Baby Gone’ is the infamous Dottie, played by the beautiful actress Jill Quigg. According to a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Ben Affleck, the movie’s director, said that Ms. Quigg approached him during filming and demanded to be in the movie. Affleck further stated that Quigg also missed the movie’s premiere because of “scheduling conflicts!” We both wonder if the premiere’s red carpet would have made her prison jumpsuit look too orange?
